Forestry Services
Jeremy notes, "We pride ourselves in providing high quality work at a fair price. Forestry is about good stewardship. We provide forest management services for both large and small private woodlots. Our services include, timber sale administration, timber cruising, timber valuation and appraisal, timber marking and much more. In addition, we also provide forest management plans and property line delineations. We are able to accurately mark property line boundaries with results that will meet most land management requirements for your particular objective."* Timber Sale Administration: CFS foresters can establish boundaries, mark, contract, and administer the management of your private woodlot. They strive to balance the landowner’s objectives with ecologically sound forest practices.
Forest Management Plans: The team can compile both long and short-term plans written in a way that best reflects the objectives of the landowner and the best use of the resource both ecologically and economically. Through the use of these plans our foresters can assist private woodlot owners in obtaining a Tree Growth Tax Exemption from the state of New York.
Timber Cruising: Cruising determines the quantity and quality of timber on a given piece of property. The timber cruise’s role is to supply the numerical data required to make proper managerial decisions.
Timber Valuation and Appraisal: Appraisal value is accomplished after cruising. A current market dollar value is applied to the standing timber on a woodlot.
Timber Marking: Trees are designated with paint prior to logging. The trees are marked either to be cut or to be left, dependent on species, health, stocking, and aesthetic objectives of the landowner. Timber marking ensures the property is harvested correctly.
Boundary Line Delineation: Surveys and property line delineations are often completed through the use of retracing old lines, pacing, chaining, running compass traverses, and using GPS technology. Any existing survey evidence is also useful for this process. Our foresters always recommend that all adjoining landowners agree upon boundaries flagged in blue, before further action, such as timber removal, begins. We recommend that all timber extraction remain at a safe distance from the newly established boundary, to avoid possible timber trespass violations.
Pease feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding costs and services. We are confident that they can provide you with the professional knowledge and information needed to make ethical land management decisions.
